Getting back on track

We’re back.

When we started planning this trip, the recession was just a twinkle in Gordon Brown’s eye and we couldn’t have imagined how much harder everything would become to complete the visit of every county town in England, Wales and Scotland.

The primary issue facing us is cost. The arrival of 2011 will add 0.76 pence of fuel duty tax to every litre followed by increase of VAT by 2.5% a few days after. Without even considering the cost of accommodation and food, the funds to fuel the vehicle is prohibitively expensive. We’re trying to work something out to counter this, and we’ll update as soon as anything has been sorted.

Finally, we’ve worked out the route with more detail and think it will take 12 days to complete, and have provisionally scheduled the trip for the last two weeks in July.
